I, Roland Keates, established Lost Histories some years ago to try and satiate my passion for films of the unknown, quirky histories that would otherwise be lost to us.

We know how to make documentaries on all manner of subjects. We have been making documentaries for 5 years, much to our satisfaction, present at documentary film events in diverse parts of the world, receiving excellent reviews, quite apart from those in Derbyshire.

It being where we have so far filmed, our communities and people have not only participated with gusto, but made great successes.

As an example, I would like to make special mention of If Walls Could Talk, a documentary on the admirable drystone walls crafts, and the dedicated people who pursue this career. Collectively, my team and I have been making short and promotional films for over 40 years.

We have gone down the route of making documentaries because of our love for history. We have been making low cost documentaries as I have been financing them out of my own pocket so far. I, that is, Roland, will continue to do so, as I want to keep history alive and flowing.

My fascination is in all manner of topics, from Witches, to Paganism, Towns and Villages. Roman Footprints, Drystone Walls, Wheel washes. The list is endless.

I have decided to ask for help with funding our film projects, by adding a donate button to this website.
